Alex Rubbish was established 1969 in Alexandria originally by the Kluver family. Alex Rubbish & recycling (ARR) is owned/operated by “The Hometown Guys,” Shaynen Schmidt, Ricky Kluver (life-time employee of Alex Rubbish and nephew of the previous owners), and Shane Schmidt. All three owners were born and raised in the Alexandria area and strive to keep business local. They have been involved in the recycling and refuse industry for 25 plus years.

Ricky, Shaynen, and Shane also own/ operate the demo landfill and transfer station named Douglas County Demolition Landfill located on Highway 29 North.

ARR offers Residential and Commercial Garbage, Recycling, Yard Waste and Roll Off container services. ARR also services the Pope/Douglas Waste to Energy facility by managing their leftover ash/fines, leachate, and organics recycling.

ARR services Douglas, Otter Tail, Pope, and Todd Counties along with several cities located within these counties.
