Alex Rubbish was started in 1969 in Alexandria by the Kluver family, and is owned by “The Hometown Guys,” Shaynen Schmidt, Ricky Kluver (long-time employee of Alex Rubbish and nephew of the previous owners), Stuart Schmidt and Shane Schmidt.  All four owners were born and raised in the Alexandria area and want to keep the long-time Alex Rubbish business local.

All four owners have been involved in the recycling and refuse industry for more than 25 years. The company’s name is Alex Rubbish & Recycling Inc. (ARR). ARR currently has 15 employees, including longtime employee Beanie Geris.

Alex Rubbish & Recycling offers residential and commercial garbage service, recycling, yard waste pick up, and roll off container service. ARR also owns and operates a demo landfill and transfer station located on Highway 29 North. ARR services the Pope/Douglas Waste To Energy facility by hauling the leftover ash and fines.

The goals of the owners are to improve their equipment and image, add new customers, and continue to improve and offer great service to long-time and new customers.

Alex Rubbish & Recycling offers competitive rates, no fuel surcharges, no contracts and no hidden fees. Payment drop boxes are located at Ace Hardware and the Viking Plaza Mall.
